(NEW YORK) — Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig have secretly filmed a movie together, but it won’t be released to a theater near you. It will instead be televised on Lifetime later this year. Seriously.
Though the news broke on April Fools’ Day, The Hollywood Reporter and other outlets insist it’s not a joke. The movie, titled A Deadly Adoption, is described as a campy thriller about a couple who takes in and cares for a pregnant woman whose unborn child they hope to adopt. However, in the words of The Hollywood Reporter, “things quickly go awry.”
The publication says Ferrell is a fan of Lifetime movies and wanted to make one himself.
A Deadly Adoption, also featuring 90210‘s Jessica Lowndes as the pregnant woman, is expected to premiere in the early summer.
Ferrell and Wiig previously co-starred in the IFC miniseries The Spoils of Babylon.
